Whirlybirds and Solar Vents in Cooloongup
Dave's Whirly Birds covers Cooloongup 6168 and the surrounding City of Rockingham area. Cooloongup sits about 39km south of the Perth CBD, and every job here is quoted at a fixed price up front and completed by Dave personally.
Cooloongup sits about 4km inland, close enough that the afternoon sea breeze still arrives with real force most summer days. Wind-driven whirlybirds work well here, though the breeze lands a little later than it does right on the coast.
Most of what Dave works on in Cooloongup is 1980s brick and tile. Housing from the eighties sits between the sprawl of the seventies and the height of the nineties — bigger than it looks from the street, with roof cavities generous enough to hold a serious amount of hot air.
Intake venting from this period is inconsistent. Some homes have plenty; others have the bare minimum, and on those the eaves are the first thing to sort out before adding more units up top.
Most homes in Cooloongup need 4 whirlybirds, which comes to $1,250 supplied and installed. Homes from this era usually run 180 to 250 square metres of ceiling.

Near-coastal — reliable sea breeze
Whirlybirds or Solar Vents in Cooloongup?
Wind-driven whirlybirds are the sensible starting point in Cooloongup. The sea breeze is consistent enough through summer that turbines earn their keep, and at $350 a unit they are the cheapest effective way to get heat out of the roof.
Where Dave suggests going solar in Cooloongup is on larger homes — anything over roughly 250m² of ceiling area — where you would otherwise be fitting five or six turbines. At that point one or two solar vents move more air for similar money and keep the roofline cleaner.
Salt is a milder concern this far back from the water than it is right on the coast, but it is not zero. It is still worth specifying a decent unit rather than a bargain one.

Three to four units covers most homes of this era. The general rule is one 300mm unit per 50–60m² of ceiling area, adjusted for pitch and how much intake venting the eaves provide. Dave works out the exact number from your details before quoting.

Yes. Cooloongup is roughly 39km south of the CBD, comfortably inside the area Dave covers, and travel is included in the quoted price — a quote in Cooloongup costs the same as one anywhere else in the metro.
Not if it is flashed properly. The flashing keeps water out, not the sealant — a unit bedded in silicone will eventually let go. Dave fits new flashing suited to your roof type on every install, which is the difference between a dry ceiling and a callback.
Yes, along with tile. Metal roofs use a purpose-made soaker or flashing fitted under the upper sheet and over the lower one, with matching screws and neoprene washers. On low-pitch Colorbond, placement high on the slope and clear of ridge caps matters more than it does on tile.
