Whirlybird Installation in Alexander Heights, Perth
Dave works right across Alexander Heights and the wider City of Wanneroo. The suburb sits about 14km north of the Perth CBD — close enough that travel is always included in the quoted price, same as everywhere else in the metro.
Alexander Heights is far enough inland — about 11km — that the sea breeze is a softer, later arrival. Wind-driven units are not useless here, but they are working fewer effective hours than the same units bolted to a roof on the coast.
Most of what Dave works on in Alexander Heights is 1980s brick and tile. 1980s homes tend toward larger floor plans and slightly higher pitches than the decade before, with roof cavities to match. Ceiling areas of 180–250m² are common, which puts most of them in the three-to-four unit range.
Eave venting is usually present but sometimes minimal. Where it is tight, adding eave vents alongside the roof units delivers a better result than simply bolting on more extraction.
Most homes in Alexander Heights need 4 whirlybirds, which comes to $1,250 supplied and installed. Homes from this era usually run 180 to 250 square metres of ceiling.

The Honest Recommendation for Alexander Heights
Being straight about it: wind-driven whirlybirds under-deliver in Alexander Heights compared with what they do on the coast. Not uselessly — but the still window through the middle of a hot day is real, and it is the window that matters most.
Where the budget allows, a solar vent is the better tool here. It runs off the sun rather than the wind, which out this way is the far more dependable of the two, and a single unit at $750 often replaces three or four turbines.
Mixing the two is common and works well: one solar vent as the workhorse, a couple of turbines to keep pulling once the afternoon breeze finally shows up. Dave quotes whichever combination actually suits the roof.

FAQ
Whirlybird Installation Alexander Heights — Common Questions
From $350 for a single unit supplied and installed. Two units are $650, three are $950, and each unit after that adds $300. Travel to Alexander Heights 6064 is included and there is no call-out fee.
Three to four units covers most homes of this era. The general rule is one 300mm unit per 50–60m² of ceiling area, adjusted for pitch and how much intake venting the eaves provide. Dave works out the exact number from your details before quoting.
This is the honest weak point for wind-driven units in Alexander Heights. The sea breeze arrives late here, so there is a hot, still window through the middle of the day where a turbine does very little. If that bothers you, a solar vent from $750 runs regardless of wind.
Yes — replacements start from $350 per unit. That covers removing the old roof vent, fitting new flashing, installing the new unit and taking the old one away. Most swaps reuse the existing roof penetration, so they take about 30–45 minutes each.
