Madeley Whirlybird Installation and Replacement
Madeley 6065 sits about 16km north of the Perth CBD, in the City of Wanneroo. Dave installs and replaces whirlybirds and solar roof vents throughout the suburb — fixed prices, no subcontractors, travel included.
At about 8km inland, Madeley feels the Fremantle Doctor as a late-afternoon easing rather than an early-afternoon change. That matters: your roof peaks before the breeze gets here, which is exactly the gap a solar vent fills.
Most of what Dave works on in Madeley is 1990s brick and tile, much of it double storey. Two-storey construction became common in the nineties, and it changes where the problem shows up: the ground floor is usually fine while the upstairs bedrooms are unbearable by evening, because they sit directly beneath the roof.
Complex rooflines are the other feature — hips, valleys and separate roof sections that do not share air. A single cavity it is not, so units often need to go on more than one section to cover the whole house.
Most homes in Madeley need 4 whirlybirds, which comes to $1,250 supplied and installed. Two-storey homes trap the worst of it upstairs, and the rooflines are rarely one simple plane.

Inland — late afternoon breeze
Whirlybirds or Solar Vents in Madeley?
Madeley is the part of Perth where this question actually has two defensible answers. The breeze gets here, but late — so a turbine does real work from mid-afternoon and very little before it, which is unfortunately when the roof does most of its heating.
Solar changes the timing rather than just the volume. Sun on the panel means the fan is running from mid-morning, so the heat gets pulled out as it builds instead of after it has already soaked into your ceiling. At $750 it costs more up front than a turbine, and on most Madeley roofs it does noticeably more.
For a smaller home with decent eave venting, three turbines at $950 is still a perfectly reasonable answer. Dave will give you the cheaper recommendation when it is the right one.

FAQ
Whirlybird Installation Madeley — Common Questions
From $350 for a single unit supplied and installed. Two units are $650, three are $950, and each unit after that adds $300. Travel to Madeley 6065 is included and there is no call-out fee.
Four units is common, and complex rooflines sometimes need units on more than one roof section. The general rule is one 300mm unit per 50–60m² of ceiling area, adjusted for pitch and how much intake venting the eaves provide. Dave works out the exact number from your details before quoting.
Not necessarily, though most people are. Dave will talk through placement before starting, and the job typically takes one to two hours. Access to the roof is all that is strictly needed.
Madeley is the part of Perth where this question actually has two defensible answers. The breeze gets here, but late — so a turbine does real work from mid-afternoon and very little before it, which is unfortunately when the roof does most of its heating.
Salt corrosion is not really a Madeley problem — you are far enough inland that units generally fail from worn bearings or storm damage rather than rust. That usually means 12–15 years from a quality unit.
This is the honest weak point for wind-driven units in Madeley. The sea breeze arrives late here, so there is a hot, still window through the middle of the day where a turbine does very little. If that bothers you, a solar vent from $750 runs regardless of wind.
