Whirlybird Installation in Palmyra, Perth
Dave works right across Palmyra and the wider City of Melville. The suburb sits about 13km south-west of the Perth CBD — close enough that travel is always included in the quoted price, same as everywhere else in the metro.
Palmyra is about 4km back from the water. The sea breeze still reaches here consistently in summer, which makes wind-driven ventilation a sensible default before you consider anything powered.
Housing through Palmyra is dominated by post-war brick and tile. The shallow cavity on a post-war roof is the thing to understand: there is less air volume between the tiles and your ceiling, so it heats through faster and there is less buffer before that heat starts radiating downward.
Most homes of this age are on their original insulation, which has usually settled, thinned or been disturbed by decades of trades crawling around up there. Ventilation works alongside it rather than instead of it.
For a typical Palmyra home you're looking at 3 whirlybirds — $950, installed in one visit. The shallow cavity on a post-war roof heats right through in an afternoon.
- Travel to Palmyra is included, never added on
- The quote you accept is the invoice you get
- The person who quotes your Palmyra roof is the one who installs

Near-coastal — reliable sea breeze
What Works Best on a Palmyra Roof
The default recommendation in Palmyra is wind-driven, and it is a genuine recommendation rather than an upsell avoided — the breeze here is reliable enough that turbines are not a compromise.
Dave steers people toward solar in two situations locally: large ceiling areas where the turbine count gets silly, and roofs that are boxed in by surrounding two-storey homes so the wind never really reaches them. Neither is the majority case in Palmyra.
Whatever goes on, the unit quality matters more than most people expect. Salt still reaches this far inland in reduced quantities, and it finds cheap bearings eventually.

FAQ
Whirlybird Installation Palmyra — Common Questions
From $350 for a single unit supplied and installed. Two units are $650, three are $950, and each unit after that adds $300. Travel to Palmyra 6157 is included and there is no call-out fee.
Two to three units suits most homes of this size and vintage. The general rule is one 300mm unit per 50–60m² of ceiling area, adjusted for pitch and how much intake venting the eaves provide. Dave works out the exact number from your details before quoting.
Yes. Palmyra is roughly 13km south-west of the CBD, comfortably inside the area Dave covers, and travel is included in the quoted price — a quote in Palmyra costs the same as one anywhere else in the metro.
Not if it is flashed properly. The flashing keeps water out, not the sealant — a unit bedded in silicone will eventually let go. Dave fits new flashing suited to your roof type on every install, which is the difference between a dry ceiling and a callback.
Yes, along with tile. Metal roofs use a purpose-made soaker or flashing fitted under the upper sheet and over the lower one, with matching screws and neoprene washers. On low-pitch Colorbond, placement high on the slope and clear of ridge caps matters more than it does on tile.
The unit, correct flashing for your roof type, cutting and fitting, removal and disposal of any old unit, full clean-up including metal swarf off the roof and out of the gutters, and travel to Palmyra. Nothing gets added afterwards.
