Whirlybird Installation in Scarborough, Perth
Dave works right across Scarborough and the wider City of Stirling. The suburb sits about 11km north-west of the Perth CBD — close enough that travel is always included in the quoted price, same as everywhere else in the metro.
Being barely a kilometre back from the beach, Scarborough catches the Fremantle Doctor before most of Perth does. Wind-driven units perform genuinely well here — there are few afternoons through summer where the turbines are standing still.
Scarborough is largely a mix of original and rebuilt housing. This is a suburb of varied vintages, which means blanket advice is not much use. Original stock and recent rebuilds sit side by side, and they behave very differently once the temperature climbs.
The variables that actually decide the job are pitch, roof material and colour, and whether your eaves are vented. Two minutes on the form settles all three.
Most homes in Scarborough need 3 whirlybirds, which comes to $950 supplied and installed. The housing changes street to street here, so the final number depends on your roof.
- No call-out fee anywhere in Scarborough
- Fixed price agreed before the job is booked
- Dave on the roof — no subcontracted crews
- Fully insured, and every roof left swept clean
Coastal — strong sea breeze
The Right Setup for a Scarborough Roof
Coastal exposure changes the maths. In Scarborough a wind-driven turbine spends most of the summer actually turning, so the cheapest option is also the effective one — start at $350 a unit and only look at solar if there is a specific reason to.
The real conversation in Scarborough is about longevity. Salt attacks bearings and fasteners, and it is the single most common reason Dave is called back to a house to replace units someone else fitted five or six years ago. Quality hardware and proper flashing are what buy you the extra decade.
Where a solar vent does make sense locally is on big or awkward roofs — large single-storey footprints, or homes sheltered from the breeze by everything around them. That gets worked out before a price is given, not after.

FAQ
Whirlybird Installation Scarborough — Common Questions
From $350 for a single unit supplied and installed. Two units are $650, three are $950, and each unit after that adds $300. Travel to Scarborough 6019 is included and there is no call-out fee.
Unit count depends heavily on which vintage your particular house is. The general rule is one 300mm unit per 50–60m² of ceiling area, adjusted for pitch and how much intake venting the eaves provide. Dave works out the exact number from your details before quoting.
Same-week bookings are usually available in Scarborough. Send an enquiry through the form and Dave will confirm the next slot along with a fixed price.
Yes. Scarborough is roughly 11km north-west of the CBD, comfortably inside the area Dave covers, and travel is included in the quoted price — a quote in Scarborough costs the same as one anywhere else in the metro.
Not if it is flashed properly. The flashing keeps water out, not the sealant — a unit bedded in silicone will eventually let go. Dave fits new flashing suited to your roof type on every install, which is the difference between a dry ceiling and a callback.
Yes, along with tile. Metal roofs use a purpose-made soaker or flashing fitted under the upper sheet and over the lower one, with matching screws and neoprene washers. On low-pitch Colorbond, placement high on the slope and clear of ridge caps matters more than it does on tile.
