Bayswater is far enough inland — about 12km — that the sea breeze is a softer, later arrival. Wind-driven units are not useless here, but they are working fewer effective hours than the same units bolted to a roof on the coast.

The roof stock in Bayswater is mainly character homes with steep tiled roofs. Older homes here were built before insulation was standard and often before sarking, so the roof cavity behaves differently to a modern one — it heats fast but also sheds heat readily once you give it somewhere to go.
