Whirlybird Installation Coolbinia — What Your Roof Needs
Roof ventilation for Coolbinia 6050, about 4km north of the Perth CBD in the City of Stirling. Owner-operated, fully insured, and priced up front before anything is booked.
Coolbinia sits about 9km back from the coast. The sea breeze does reach here — it just reaches here after the worst of the day's heat has already built up in your roof, which is the crux of the whirlybird-versus-solar decision locally.
Coolbinia is largely post-war brick and tile. Low-pitched roofs from this era hold less air than you would think, and that works against you — a small cavity reaches a high temperature quickly and passes it on to the ceiling below with very little delay.
Eave overhangs from the fifties are modest, so intake is often limited before you even consider whether anything has been boxed in since. Worth checking properly rather than assuming.
Most homes in Coolbinia need 3 whirlybirds, which comes to $950 supplied and installed. The shallow cavity on a post-war roof heats right through in an afternoon.
- No call-out fee anywhere in Coolbinia
- Fixed price agreed before the job is booked
- Dave on the roof — no subcontracted crews

Inland — late afternoon breeze
Whirlybirds or Solar Vents in Coolbinia?
Coolbinia is the part of Perth where this question actually has two defensible answers. The breeze gets here, but late — so a turbine does real work from mid-afternoon and very little before it, which is unfortunately when the roof does most of its heating.
Solar changes the timing rather than just the volume. Sun on the panel means the fan is running from mid-morning, so the heat gets pulled out as it builds instead of after it has already soaked into your ceiling. At $750 it costs more up front than a turbine, and on most Coolbinia roofs it does noticeably more.
For a smaller home with decent eave venting, three turbines at $950 is still a perfectly reasonable answer. Dave will give you the cheaper recommendation when it is the right one.

From $350 for a single unit supplied and installed. Two units are $650, three are $950, and each unit after that adds $300. Travel to Coolbinia 6050 is included and there is no call-out fee.
Two to three units suits most homes of this size and vintage. The general rule is one 300mm unit per 50–60m² of ceiling area, adjusted for pitch and how much intake venting the eaves provide. Dave works out the exact number from your details before quoting.
Yes — replacements start from $350 per unit. That covers removing the old roof vent, fitting new flashing, installing the new unit and taking the old one away. Most swaps reuse the existing roof penetration, so they take about 30–45 minutes each.

Yes. Coolbinia is roughly 4km north of the CBD, comfortably inside the area Dave covers, and travel is included in the quoted price — a quote in Coolbinia costs the same as one anywhere else in the metro.
Not if it is flashed properly. The flashing keeps water out, not the sealant — a unit bedded in silicone will eventually let go. Dave fits new flashing suited to your roof type on every install, which is the difference between a dry ceiling and a callback.
