Whirlybirds and Solar Vents in Shenton Park
Dave's Whirly Birds covers Shenton Park 6008 and the surrounding City of Nedlands area. Shenton Park sits about 5km west of the Perth CBD, and every job here is quoted at a fixed price up front and completed by Dave personally.
Shenton Park sits about 6km inland, close enough that the afternoon sea breeze still arrives with real force most summer days. Wind-driven whirlybirds work well here, though the breeze lands a little later than it does right on the coast.
Drive around Shenton Park and you are mostly looking at character homes with steep tiled roofs. Character housing brings a big, steeply pitched roof cavity — which holds a lot of hot air, and stratifies it hard up under the ridge. That is good news for ventilation: there is plenty to extract, and units placed high do real work.
The catch on older homes is intake. Original eaves were often narrow, and a lot have since been lined or boxed in during renovations, which quietly seals off the airflow path. Extraction without intake achieves very little, so this is the first thing to check.
The usual answer in Shenton Park is 4 whirlybirds, $1,250 all up. A steep character roof holds a lot more hot air than the floor area suggests.

Which Setup Suits Shenton Park Homes
Shenton Park sits in the comfortable middle. There is enough afternoon breeze that turbines work properly, so most homes here are well served by two to four wind-driven units rather than anything powered.
The switch to solar makes sense once the roof gets big. If the honest answer to "how many turbines?" is five or more, one or two solar vents at $750 each will usually move more air for comparable money — and there is far less hardware on the roof.
Corrosion is a background factor rather than a headline one at this distance from the coast. A quality unit should give you twelve to fifteen years here.

FAQ
Whirlybird Installation Shenton Park — Common Questions
From $350 for a single unit supplied and installed. Two units are $650, three are $950, and each unit after that adds $300. Travel to Shenton Park 6008 is included and there is no call-out fee.
Steep pitch means more cavity volume per square metre of ceiling, so these homes often want one more unit than the floor area alone suggests. The general rule is one 300mm unit per 50–60m² of ceiling area, adjusted for pitch and how much intake venting the eaves provide. Dave works out the exact number from your details before quoting.
Not necessarily, though most people are. Dave will talk through placement before starting, and the job typically takes one to two hours. Access to the roof is all that is strictly needed.
Shenton Park sits in the comfortable middle. There is enough afternoon breeze that turbines work properly, so most homes here are well served by two to four wind-driven units rather than anything powered.
Salt reaches Shenton Park, but it is a milder problem than it is right on the beach. Expect a decent unit to last 12–15 years, and a cheap one noticeably less.
Rarely an issue in Shenton Park. The sea breeze is dependable enough through summer that turbines are turning most afternoons. On a still morning output drops off, but the hottest part of the day is generally covered.
