Whirlybird Installation in Ellenbrook, Perth
Dave works right across Ellenbrook and the wider City of Swan. The suburb sits about 21km north-east of the Perth CBD — close enough that travel is always included in the quoted price, same as everywhere else in the metro.
21km inland puts Ellenbrook at the far edge of the sea breeze's reach. Hot, still afternoons are the norm through summer here, and that is precisely the condition wind-driven whirlybirds handle worst.
Most of what Dave works on in Ellenbrook is newer estate housing, a lot of it Colorbond. The newer builds around here share a common problem. Colorbond in a dark colour runs considerably hotter than light tile, and contemporary designs give you a wide roof over a compact block with minimal eave overhang.
With little or no intake venting designed in, bolting extraction to the roof only gets you so far. This is the housing type where adding eave vents makes the biggest single difference.
The usual answer in Ellenbrook is 4 whirlybirds, $1,250 all up. Dark Colorbond over a wide footprint is about the hottest combination going in Perth.

Far inland — light, late breeze
Whirlybirds or Solar Vents in Ellenbrook?
Solar, in most cases. Ellenbrook sits far enough inland that wind is the least reliable thing you could power a roof vent with, and hot still afternoons are the norm rather than the exception through summer.
A solar unit sidesteps the problem entirely — it runs on the thing Ellenbrook has in abundance. From $750 installed, no wiring, no electrician, and no running cost, and it is working hardest at the hottest point of the day.
If the budget only stretches to turbines, they are still better than an unventilated roof — but you should go in knowing they will be doing less here than the same units would in Scarborough. Dave would rather tell you that upfront than have you disappointed in February.

FAQ
Whirlybird Installation Ellenbrook — Common Questions
From $350 for a single unit supplied and installed. Two units are $650, three are $950, and each unit after that adds $300. Travel to Ellenbrook 6069 is included and there is no call-out fee.
Wide footprints and dark roofs push these homes toward four-plus units, or one to two solar vents. The general rule is one 300mm unit per 50–60m² of ceiling area, adjusted for pitch and how much intake venting the eaves provide. Dave works out the exact number from your details before quoting.
Salt corrosion is not really a Ellenbrook problem — you are far enough inland that units generally fail from worn bearings or storm damage rather than rust. That usually means 12–15 years from a quality unit.
This is the honest weak point for wind-driven units in Ellenbrook. The sea breeze arrives late here, so there is a hot, still window through the middle of the day where a turbine does very little. If that bothers you, a solar vent from $750 runs regardless of wind.
Yes — replacements start from $350 per unit. That covers removing the old roof vent, fitting new flashing, installing the new unit and taking the old one away. Most swaps reuse the existing roof penetration, so they take about 30–45 minutes each.
Same-week bookings are usually available in Ellenbrook. Send an enquiry through the form and Dave will confirm the next slot along with a fixed price.
